Selling Experience

Here's what my clients Nancy and Elliot Plotkin formerly of Wyckoff, NJ had to say:

In the most tumultuous Real Estate market ever, we found ourselves having to relocate to California and sell our home. Never having sold a home before, nonetheless in a down market, we were at a loss. How do you select someone to help you sell your home? Word of mouth, Google, gut instinct? One thing we did learn is not to hire a friend, which we made the mistake of doing initially. Then we did our homework and went to the Internet. From every website we searched one name kept coming up, Paul Clark, from Coldwell Banker. She looked friendly enough from her picture and had some pretty good reviews. And she was all over the Internet, which proved she was a “techie.”  Someone who was smart enough to get your house noticed; who knew you had to think out of the box to sell in this economy.  And so we took a leap of faith and called.

I’ll never forget the day this tall, blonde warm and charming woman entered our front door. From the moment she arrived, we knew we were with a pro. She sat us down and explained it all. The process, the current market and trends, the comps in the area, things we needed to understand and learn. She made us realize it was strictly business now. No more sentimental attachments to this brick and mortar that held all our dreams and memories. It was crunch time. We had to sell. We needed to get out. It was time to take action. And that’s exactly what she did. She moved furniture around. Told us what to pack away and took amazing pictures. The next day she came back with a stack of the most professionally done brochures we had ever seen. The sign went up and the marketing materials were in a box on our front lawn. We were on every website there was (and then some I’m sure).  The open houses started and people started to look. We had traffic, interest, brokers in and out.

Had it been 6 months earlier, we have no doubt Paula would have sold our home for the price we wanted. But we got caught in the real estate crash. So it took much longer than expected. We had to get to California. We had jobs waiting. So we packed our suitcases and left our home fully furnished in the dead of winter and in the hands of our realtor. It was one of the scariest times in our lives but Paula was there for every telephone call and email. She watched over the house and made sure things were running smoothly.  And finally the day came when she called to say we had a closing date. This letter is for all those people out there who don’t know how to select a realtor. So stop fretting and speculating. Don’t try to sell it yourself, just call Paula. She will give you personal, professional treatment. She will work hard and do her very best. And she will treat you as more than just a client. Our only mistake was not hiring hire from the very beginning. But we are sure glad we found her when we did. Words are just not enough to express our appreciation and gratitude for everything that Paula did for us. If you want to sell your home, hire the best.

Hire, Paula Clark.
